Secondary Machining and Welding Services

Founded in 1959 as a small tool and die shop, Manor Tool & Manufacturing Company has since grown into a premier metal stamping company offering bending, forming, punching, and deep drawn stamping services to customers across industry. Our expert team has the knowledge and skills to fulfill prototyping to full production tooling needs in low to high volumes, plus full capabilities for secondary machining and welding services.

At Manor Tool & Manufacturing, we do our best to provide support by offering a wide range of secondary processes from deburring and drilling to powder coating, machining, and painting. We accommodate over 30 different plating materials and assembly options and adhere to strict industry standards.

Secondary Machining Services at Manor Tool & Manufacturing

Secondary services are the operations that occur after a part or product is manufactured, such as finishing, assembly, and packaging. In regard to machining projects, these services generally refer to the treatment and finishing processes employed to improve the performance and facilitate the delivery of ready-to-use pieces.

We provide an extensive selection of secondary machining services, including the following:

  • Anodizing. Anodizing is an electrochemical finishing process that creates an anodic oxide surface layer on manufactured metal pieces. Typically applied to aluminum, magnesium, titanium, and other nonferrous metals, the resulting finish is durable, corrosion resistant, and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Brazing. Brazing is a joining process used to attach two separate pieces of metal or ceramic together. It involves adding, melting, and cooling a filler material at the connecting junction to form a solid brazed joint. This method can be used for similar or dissimilar materials.
  • Deburring. Deburring is a mechanical finishing process employed to remove surface imperfections, such as burrs or sharp edges, from a metal workpiece to improve overall part quality and tolerance levels.
  • Fabrication. The term “fabrication” encompasses all of the manufacturing processes used to cut, form, and shape parts. Fabrication projects generally fall in one of three categories, based on the end product or type of process employed: industrial (parts used in other products), commercial (products intended for consumer use), and structural (parts and structures used for construction and building applications).
  • Heat treating. Heat treating refers to the thermal processes used to alter or enhance the physical and/or chemical properties of a material. Typical heat treatments include annealing, carburizing, and tempering.
  • Packaging. Packaging operation occurs after a part or product is complete and ready for delivery to the distribution center or the end consumer.
  • Painting. Painting is a finishing process involving the addition of paint, pigment, or other colored/non-colored mediums to a manufactured part to enhance its functional and/or aesthetic properties.
  • Passivation. Passivation is a non-electrolytic finishing process that enhances the corrosion resistance of stainless steel.
  • Plating. Plating is a finishing process that results in the establishment of a thin layer of material on the surface of substrates. The layer can improve many aspects of the base material, including conductivity, corrosion resistance, solderability, and strength.
  • Powder coating. Powder coating is a finishing process that employs the use of heat and dry thermoplastic or thermoset powder to add functional and/or decorative coatings to the surface of a wide range of materials.
  • Soldering. Similar to brazing, soldering uses a filler material to join metal pieces together. Compared to brazing operations, however, soldering operations generally involve fillers that melt below—rather than above—450° F.

Welding Services at Manor Tool & Manufacturing

In addition to our machining capabilities, multiple welding services—such as MIG, TIG, spot, and projection welding—are available depending on part functionality and requirements. Below is a current list of services offered at our facility:

  • MIG welding (GMAW)
  • TIG welding (GTAW)
  • Spot welding
  • Projection welding

Expert Secondary Machining and Welding Services From Manor Tool & Manufacturing

If you need low-volume products or low-cost startup and shorter lead-times, Manor offers short-run fabrication. The short-run process can be used to debug a product prior to making costly hard tools that would need potentially expensive die changes. It can also bridge the time needed to build the hard tool die and get you into production sooner.

Along with our in-house tooling and secondary capabilities, we provide machining and welding services that serve a range of industries and intended applications, including shafts, round work stampings, forgings, castings, and fasteners. We feature a full-service machining department that accommodates many different types of metals and plastics. With up to three-axis machining capabilities, we hold tight tolerances of up to +/- .0005 inches and can work with parts up to 35 inches in length, 80 inches in width, and 8,000 pounds in weight.
