The most popular material choice for construction tools is steel, such as hot or cold rolled steel. Hot rolling entails fabricating steel using high temperatures of over 1700˚F, which allows manufacturers to form, shape, and produce steel in larger sizes. Cold rolled steel is similar to hot rolled steel, only it undergoes additional processing through room-temperature cooling and annealing or temper rolling. While hot rolled steel is more malleable, tough, and ductile, cold rolled steel is harder, stronger, and more suitable for precise applications.
